Norton Energy Drilling is a family owned drilling contractor based in Levelland, TX. Founded in 2005, Norton Energy provides contract drilling services to the exploration & production companies operating in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Norton Energy’s fit-for-purpose rigs are built for its area of operation—the 90 miles South and West of Lubbock and Levelland. Norton Energy strives to provide safe and efficient operations to deliver the greatest value to its customers.
Founder and President, John “Jay” W. Norton, is a third generation drilling contractor. His father Sherman H. Norton started Sitton-Norton Drilling Company with Pete Sitton and after splitting the company, he ran Norton Drilling Company from 1976 to 1999 when it was purchased by UTI Energy Corp. Sherman’s uncle George P. Livermore founded The Livermore Drilling Company in 1951 and operated in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, and drilled the first producing well in Chile.
